About Neuromodulators

Daxxify is the newest, most advanced neuromodulator on the market. For over 30 years, botulinum toxin type A (BoNTA) has been used to successfully treat signs of aging in millions of procedures worldwide. There are recognizable brand names, most notably Botox; a neuromodulator that has strong brand recognition, even among those unfamiliar with facial rejuvenation. These injectables are a particularly effective way to treat dynamic wrinkles and lines, or those that are caused by repeated facial expressions. And, as one of the most expressive areas of the face is the upper third, many people seek treatments that can smooth away deeper expression lines that have “set in” over time.

How is Daxxify Different?

DAXI, or Daxxify, is a newly FDA-approved product that contains highly purified DaxibotulinumtoxinA, a subtype of botulinum toxin. It’s the very first neuromodulator to be formulated with a unique protein (RTP004) instead of human serum albumin. (3) Human serum albumin is a stabilizer that protects the injectable during shipping and storage. Research suggests that the addition of the RTP004 protein in DAXI makes results last longer than those from conventional injectable neuromodulators.

Candidates

Testing shows that DAXI is suitable for a wide variety of candidates. Daxxify Injectable Procedure

Daxxify, Beleza, Sewickley, PA

Your DAXI procedure at Beleza will be performed by a trained nurse injector. Each of our nurses and aestheticians is a specialist trained in human facial anatomy and the optimal injection locations for the most effective results. Prior to your session, we may ask you to follow some directions, such as coming to your appointment without any makeup on your face. Depending on your treatment plan, one of our nurse injectors will target crow’s feet, glabellar lines and/or forehead lines and carefully inject the muscles in each area with the DAXI formulation. After your procedure, you will be free to leave our office and continue with your day.

Results

As with Botox, patients should expect some mild residual swelling at the injection sites. There may be some tenderness and redness which is common, and will dissipate over time. Any discomfort can be managed with ice packs and over-the-counter acetaminophen (Tylenol). We advise not laying down flat for 4 hours after injections, and avoiding exercise or aerobic activity for 24 hours. Most patients see results appear after 3 days. (4) You may expect your treated areas to be wrinkle-free for up to six months!

As an alternative to Daxxify, Botox by Galderma is the standard neuromodulator treatment for dynamic lines and wrinkles in the face. It’s used by millions worldwide each year because it’s a fast procedure, there’s no downtime, and it produces great results. Patients can use Botox to smooth away rhytides throughout the face. Like DAXI, it is particularly effective for the correction of horizontal forehead lines, crow’s feet, and glabellar lines. 

Jeuveau

Made by Evolus, Jeuveau is an alternative neuromodulator injection to Daxxify and Botox. It has the same goals in that it smooths wrinkles and lines in the face to help you look and feel more youthful. Is Daxxify better than Botox?

Daxxify is the newest injectable treatment for facial rejuvenation. Many studies have shown that DAXI can last longer than Botox. Typically, results from Botox last 3-4 months. Results in research studies showed that Daxxify results could last up to 6 months.

How long does a Daxxify injectable treatment session take?

Daxxify treatment sessions are comparable to other injection procedures. Depending on your treatment plan, you can expect the process to be complete in under 20 minutes.

Can I have laser treatments on the same day as DAXI?

Some procedures, like IPL or a light micropeel, may be done on the same day as injection, as long as it is done before injection. Some of our other laser treatments (like Morpheus8 or ResurFX) are better suited to be done separately to ensure great results. The important thing to remember when combining treatments is to consult your Beleza provider and be honest with them about other treatments and procedures you are having done. This is to avoid complications. After all, you are investing time and money into yourself so that you look and feel your absolute best, and we want to support you in that journey.
