What is Dermalinfusion®

DiamondGlow is a highly advanced facial treatment due to the fact that it enacts 3 skin rejuvenation steps at the same time. Its 3-in-1 capability is called Dermalinfusion®– it includes exfoliation, mild suction, and infusion with a SkinMedica® Pro-Infusion serum. The device performs a unique form of exfoliation called microdermabrasion using a gentle, yet effective diamond tip. Depending on your needs, we will choose and employ a unique diamond tip to further customize your treatment. Some patients may be candidates for more exfoliation or less exfoliation which can be customized based on the size of the crushed diamonds on the DiamondGlow tip. For patients struggling with active acne, Beleza offers a brush tip which can be used for a more gentle DiamondGlow treatment when the diamond tip may not be appropriate.

The suction action of DiamondGlow is a necessary part of the process since it rids the skin of surface-level dead cells and excess oil or dirt on the epidermis. Finally, your chosen serum will allow your skin to heal from the appearance of:

  • Uneven Skin Tone
  • Dark Spots
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Minor Wrinkles and Lines
  • Atrophic Scars/Acne Scars
  • Enlarged Pores

How Does Microdermabrasion Work?

Microdermabrasion is an exfoliation technique that involves the removal of dead skin cells, resulting in a rejuvenated complexion. DiamondGlow uses its diamond-tipped wand to abrade the outermost layer of the skin. The diamond tip serves to arrange the melanosomes– structures that contain melanin, or skin pigment- on the epidermis in such a way that equalizes skin tone. It also triggers the skin to increase collagen fiber thickness in the second layer of the skin, the dermis. Collagen is a necessary connective protein in the skin that contributes to the skin’s rigidity and youthful qualities.

The exfoliation part of the treatment stimulates the skin to increase its production of fibroblasts, dermis layer cells that create collagen and other proteins. This action optimizes wound-healing processes, promoting healthier, stronger skin that is more resilient against the environment. (1)

SkinMedica® Pro-Infusion Serums

Each pro-Infusion serum is designed to help patients attain specific results and combat certain skin imperfections:

  • If you have oily skin that is prone to developing blackheads, SkinMedica® Pore Clarifying Pro-infusion Serum can help.
  • If you find that your skin is dry or flaky, the HA5 Hyaluronic Acid Pro-infusion Serum provides your skin with more hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring substance produced in the body that draws more water into the dermis.
  • If you experience hyperpigmentation issues such as melasma or rosacea, the Even & Correct Advanced Brightening Pro-infusion Serum may be most appropriate for your condition.
  • If you are looking for a simple yet efficient treatment with antioxidant properties, the Vitamin C Pro-infusion Serum boosts the health of your skin cells and collagen production.
  • If you have fine facial lines, the anti-aging benefits of the TNS® Advanced+ Pro-infusion Serum can provide you with a wide range of antioxidants and rejuvenating proteins to reduce them.

Another great benefit of the DiamondGlow treatment is that your Beleza provider can mix two or more of the serums to provide a customized and comprehensive skincare experience.

Candidates for DiamondGlow

DiamondGlow is safe for a vast majority of patients who have had facials before, but it isn’t for everyone. If you have an active skin condition in your face, DiamondGlow may produce some negative reactions such as itchiness or dryness. Those prone to cold sores should consult their provider on the prospect of taking an antiviral medication in order to prevent an outbreak. Patients who have applied Accutane or other acne medications within the past few weeks should wait until the condition is completely resolved before considering any facial rejuvenation treatment.

How to Prepare for DiamondGlow

DiamondGlow is a gentle treatment that doesn’t require extensive preparation. Before your session, you should take extra caution to refrain from sun exposure and tanning beds. If you decide to go outside for extended periods of time, be sure to apply sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30. UV rays can subtly damage your skin, dry it out more, and even negatively affect the quality of your results. During preparation, your nurse will speak with you about your SkinMedica® serum/s to see if you are allergic or sensitive to any of their properties. You should make sure to avoid all other skincare-related procedures in the 2 weeks before your scheduled session, particularly those that exfoliate the skin. During this time, it’s important that you refrain from using products containing retinoids, retinol, alpha-hydroxy acid, or exfoliating ingredients. Beleza recommends discontinuing these and any other harsh skincare products  three days before and after each DiamondGlow session.

Treatment Steps

At your appointment, your Beleza provider will first arrange your specific formulation of serum/s and prepare the DiamondGlow device. Next, they will choose from 6 diamond tip options to provide the optimal level of exfoliation for your skin. After turning the device on, they will apply the diamond tip of the handpiece to your skin, moving it along the face in long passes. As it travels over the skin, it suctions out debris and administers small amounts of the serum at once. Since the treatment is entirely non-invasive, you won’t feel any discomfort, though some patients feel slightly ticklish. Your total treatment time is about thirty minutes

Recovery and Results

Depending on how sensitive your skin is, DiamondGlow may leave it feeling warm, red, and a bit tender. Within just a few hours, however, these side effects will completely diminish in most cases. While you may notice an instant difference in the clarity and smoothness of your skin, it will continue to improve as more collagen and elastin form. On average, the results after treatment will last 4 to 6 weeks, roughly the time it takes for new skin to completely regenerate.

To extend, support, and maintain your results, you may purchase SkinMedica® products to use at home. In addition to using their product/s, you should keep up with using sunscreen to protect your skin from UV rays that can cause premature aging and damage. Beleza recommends always using a minimum SPF of 30. There is no downtime required after DiamondGlow treatment, and you can go about your daily activities right after your session.

Corresponding & Complementary Procedures

Fractional Skin Resurfacing

If you are seeking to drastically increase collagen and elastin production with minimal downtime, a fractional laser treatment may be the solution. Just like DiamondGlow, fractional lasers target the fibroblasts, but they do so in a more comprehensive manner. The laser light emits thermal energy onto the skin to inflict microinjuries that provoke healing processes deep within the dermis. While there are some side effects with fractional lasers, the concentrated light only covers about 25 to 40% of the skin, allowing for faster healing times. Beleza Plastic Surgery has non-ablative lasers which are devices that don’t vaporize the epidermis. Once the dermis experiences microinjuries, the epidermis serves to protect this layer of skin as it heals. After treatment, most patients are able to resume all activities within a few days, making it a great option for those who want to begin to see results relatively quickly without downtime.

How often should I get DiamondGlow treatments?

The frequency of DiamondGlow treatments depends on individual needs and goals. In general, a series of treatments is recommended to achieve optimal results. Your skincare professional will assess your skin condition and create a personalized treatment plan tailored to your specific concerns. The most frequent possibility of treatment would be spaced two weeks apart, however many patients feel that they only need treatment every few months.

Can DiamondGlow be combined with other skincare treatments?

Yes, DiamondGlow can be combined with other skincare treatments. It is often used as a complementary procedure alongside other treatments such as chemical peels, laser therapies, or injectable treatments to enhance the overall outcome and address multiple skin concerns simultaneously. Always disclose other treatments to your providers, so that the appropriate treatment plans can be created customized to you. Yes, DiamondGlow is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin. The treatment can be tailored to address specific concerns and adapt to different skin conditions, ensuring optimal results for each individual.
