About Vaginal Laxity
Vaginal laxity, or looseness of the vagina is an underreported symptom of which many women feel embarrassed. According to a study by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, of the 40% of women who self-reported vaginal laxity, only 14% consulted a doctor concerning their issue. (1) Many women are unaware that there are effective noninvasive options that can treat the vaginal tissues with the sensitive care it requires.
Many doctors are invested in radiofrequency (RF) energy, a type of gentle thermal energy that promotes skin-tightening. Research has shown that RF devices are able to stimulate increased collagen and elastin within the vaginal canal. Collagen and elastin are connective proteins that support a healthy balance between vaginal rigidity and elasticity. In addition, they are able to stimulate the growth of nerve fibers, encouraging more sensation during sexual activities. (1) In another study, RF was shown to facilitate better lubrication and vasodilation, thereby increasing blood flow and oxygenation throughout the vaginal canal. (2)
Electrical muscle stimulation, on the other hand, is designed to improve the functioning of the pelvic floor muscles. These muscles are responsible for the support of pelvic organs, bladder and bowel function, and sexual function and enjoyment. When applied transvaginally, mild electrical currents stimulate the nerves in the area and strengthen the pelvic floor as a whole. EMS has even been shown to decrease the risk of pelvic organ prolapse. (3)
Candidates for Vaginal Rejuvenation Treatments
If you suspect that you have vaginal laxity from childbirth or natural aging, vaginal rejuvenation may be appropriate. Women who experience discomfort, lack of arousal, and decreased sensation during sex may be ideal candidates for our minimally invasive devices: VTone, Morpheus8V, and FormaV. Our high-tech EMS device, VTone is well-suited for women with both stress and urge urinary incontinence. While stress urinary incontinence is characterized by urine loss from laughing, exercising, or sneezing, urge urinary incontinence causes frequent, intense urges to use the restroom alongside involuntary urine loss.
Personal Consultation
During your private consultation, your Beleza provider will take the time to understand your medical history and discuss your specific cosmetic goals. They will conduct a thorough examination of your vaginal area, assessing the degree of laxity and any related issues such as weakened pelvic floor muscles. This comprehensive evaluation allows her to determine the most appropriate treatment options for your individual needs. It is important to note that while vaginal rejuvenation procedures are commonly performed, they may not be suitable for every patient.
To get started today, call the location closest to you- (724) 759-7777 (Sewickley, PA) or (412) 877-9388 (Pittsburgh, PA). You can also reach us by completing our contact form online, and a member of our team will respond as quickly as possible.
Preparation
No preparation is required before VTone, Morpheus8V, or FormaV. However, we do recommend that patients avoid scheduling appointments on a menstruation day. When menstruation arrives unexpectedly, we advise patients to call in and reschedule their treatments. You should also refrain from having intercourse at least 24 hours before and after your treatment session.
Vaginal Laxity Treatments
VTone
For a VTone procedure, your nurse will apply a lubricant to the part of the device that is inserted into the vagina. After insertion, they will administer mild electrical currents to increase the muscular strength of the pelvic floor, improve the texture and structure of the vaginal walls with increased collagen and elastin, and promote more blood flow to the area. In about 30 minutes, the entire procedure is finished. For a visual animation demonstrating VTone’s mechanism of action, watch this video on our Youtube channel.
Most patients benefit from 6 to 8 treatment sessions over a 3-month time period. You will notice improvements just 1 to 2 weeks following each session, so it’s important to evaluate your results prior to scheduling another VTone appointment. Patients can resume their everyday activities without having to follow any aftercare instructions or take any downtime. Once patients complete their initial series of VTone treatments, Beleza providers often recommend a maintenance protocol to maintain optimal results. Patients may come in and be re-treated 3-4 times per year. Just like going to the gym, maintaining ideal VTone outcomes requires consistency.
Morpheus8V
Morpheus8V is a radio-frequency (RF) microneedling device that is specially designed for use in the vagina and vulva. On the wand, microneedles serve to invoke micro injuries in the vaginal tissues, initiating a healing process of increased connective proteins. This process results in improved texture, tone, and tightness of the canal. Morpheus8V’s wand also emits RF energy to further enhance tightening and cell regeneration. You can expect this procedure to last about one hour, then you will be able to go about your day as usual. At Beleza, this treatment is completely comfortable. Patients receive a top topical anesthetic and use a nitrous oxide gas so this procedure is as pain-free as possible.
There are many benefits to Morpheus8V treatments:
- No general anesthesia is required.
- Helps reduce urinary incontinence
- ProNox (a nitrous/oxygen blend) relieves pain/anxiety during treatment
- Minimal side effects
- Increased blood flow and lubrication
- Treats Lichen Sclerosus, a rare disorder characterized by thin, discolored skin
- Long-lasting improvements for several months.
FormaV
For a FormaV session, your nurse will first apply a lubricating gel to the ergonomically-shaped wand of the device. After you are comfortable, the wand is inserted intravaginally and ready to transmit radiofrequency energy. Initially, you will feel the pressure of the wand and warm sensations from the RF energy penetrating into the vaginal lining. The RF energy itself is approximately 107.6 degrees Fahrenheit (42 degrees Celsius), which is not far off from the average internal temperature of 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit. Your nurse will apply the RF evenly by rotating the wand and moving it in and out of the canal. FormaV may also be applied externally on the labia to improve tissue quality.
In under an hour, the procedure is complete and you will be free to resume your daily routine. You will have to abstain from sex for at least 2 days following the procedure to allow the tissues to properly remodel and tighten. Patients tend to benefit most from 3 to 5 sessions of FormaV spaced 2 to 4 weeks apart, but many report improvements 1 to 2 weeks after the initial session. Dr. Wooten recommends that patients come in for a yearly follow-up to maintain results.

FAQ
What are the causes of vaginal laxity?
Vaginal laxity can be caused by various factors, including multiple childbirths, natural aging processes, hormonal changes, obesity, and certain medical conditions. These factors contribute to the loss of collagen and elastin fibers in the vaginal area, leading to decreased tightness and elasticity.
What non-surgical treatments are there for vaginal laxity?
Non-surgical solutions like FormaV, Morpheus8V, and VTone are excellent options for addressing vaginal looseness. These treatments offer a safe and effective alternative to surgery, providing women with improved vaginal tone and confidence.
How long do the results of vaginal tightening procedures last?
The longevity of vaginal tightening results can vary from patient to patient. Non-surgical treatments usually require multiple sessions for optimal outcomes, with results lasting up to a year or longer.
Does non-surgical tightening work for severe vaginal laxity?
In cases of severe vaginal laxity, you may need a more comprehensive procedure such as a vaginoplasty. If you feel that you need to cosmetically improve the look of your vulva, a labiaplasty procedure can reduce the length and thickness of your labia.
