Permanent MakeupPermanent Makeup by Anastasia Wooten, CPCP of Beleza Plastic Surgery, Pittsburgh
Whether you are looking to replenish thinning brows, accentuate your eyes, or brighten your lips, permanent makeup can be a highly satisfying procedure.
Permanent makeup application is the tattooing of iron oxide pigments into the dermal layer of the skin. This procedures saves Pittsburgh women the time and additional expense of makeup application.
While those with permanent makeup may require a ‘touch-up’ every two years or so, the procedure is long-lasting, with long-term satisfaction.
This woman found us because she was sick of shaping and drawing on her brows they way she wanted them every day! Because she was very particular about her brows, she spent more time grooming them than she wanted. Anastasia and she spent a good amount of time prior to the procedure working on their shape, and making sure they were perfect. The ‘before’ picture, above, shows the client with her makeup done the way she normally likes it. The ‘after’ picture shows her immediately after her procedure. Of course, her brows look much darker immediately after treatment, however they will lighten in the weeks to come.
This woman normally wore a dramatic smoky eye makeup, so to simplify her makeup routine, she opted for some permanent eyeliner. Anastasia did a simple eyeliner in her darkest brown pigment on the top lid, as well as a little shading on her bottom lids to redefine her eyes. Her gorgeous result shows her immediately after her procedure.
While this result appears very dramatic, keep in mind that this client’s ‘after’ photo was taken only a few minutes after her procedure, and that her color faded to a softer, more natural appearance in the following weeks. She had a blended lip liner done in order to enhance the size and shape of her lips, and give her a bit of color – that won’t come off at lunch!
Overplucking in her teens had left this lovely young woman with sparse brows, which took too long to reshape every morning. Permanent makeup is a way for her to redefine her face – and save time!
Again, this woman came in with existing pigment in her skin from previously performed permanent makeup. Anastasia did a simple black eyeliner on both the top and bottom lids to redefine her eyes. Her lovely result shows her immediately after her procedure.
This woman had already had previous permanent makeup tattoos, and Anastasia used a hairstroke technique with her tattoo pen to simulate the effect of natural hair growth and cover up her previous tattoos. The client’s result is beautiful, and makes her appear more youthful.
This client had already had her permanent eyeliner done twice, and asked to have it touched up again by Anastasia. After much discussion of all the pigments color options, she and Anastasia decided to go with the deepest brown color to re-emphasize her eyes, followed by some teal shading along the outsides of her eyes to blend the brown with her existing blue pigment. Here, she is shown immediately before and after her procedure.
An eyeliner touchup can benefit almost anyone. Here, the client is shown with her previously designed tattoo, and after a touch-up on both her upper and lower lids performed by Anastasia.
*Please note, while all ‘before & after’s shown on our website are real Beleza patients, this does not imply that your result will look exactly like any of them. Outcomes are highly individual, and depend greatly on your procedure and your anatomy, as well as your post-operative compliance.
Candidates for Permanent Makeup
Many people from different walks of life choose to have a permanent cosmetics procedure done in order to streamline their lifestyle. Permanent makeup allows those who otherwise would spend time and money on makeup to simplify their routine. While most candidates for permanent cosmetics are simply people who would like to minimize their time in front of the mirror in the morning, some who choose to have this treatment done are affected by:
- sparse brows / lashes
- hair loss for any reason

Anastasia Wooten, Beleza’s permanent makeup artist, is a Certified Permanent Cosmetics Professional, and a member of the SPCP.
Anastasia will first consult with you regarding the procedure you want to have done. You will need to know which procedure(s) you are interested in when you come to meet with her. Choose from:
- permanent makeup on the eyebrow(s)
- permanent eyeliner
- lash liner (to subtly augment the appearance of lashes)
- permanent lip liner
- full lip color
- areola tattooing (which can be for breast cancer reconstruction patients, or for those who wish to emphasize pale nipples)
Together, you and Anastasia will select pigments that best suit your skin color as well as your aesthetic goals.
The Permanent Makeup Procedure
Prior to treatment, you will be numbed with a topical gel solution. This will not take long to absorb into the skin and become effective – about an hour at the most. The treatment itself will also not take long – likely a half an hour, depending on your circumstances. Your procedure will be done here in our office, in clean and sanitary conditions.
Following treatment, the site treatment will be cleaned, and you will be ready to go. You may be unnerved by the initial result. The pigment will look much darker immediately following treatment than what your result will actually look like. In the coming weeks, your pigment will fade up to 40%!
Follow-up Care after Permanent Makeup
Touch-ups are required in order for you to achieve your optimal result. We will schedule a six week follow-up for you to return after your procedure and have Anastasia take a look at you.
