Regardless of exaggerated TikTok viral trends, today’s generation of modern patients seek a ‘natural’ outcome when it comes to cosmetic surgery. More and more, Beleza patients come to Dr. Anna Wooten FACS requesting fat grafting to the breasts, buttocks, and other body parts such as the lips, face, and backs of the hands. For some, the potential downside of fat transfer that patients are most concerned about is not enough fat cell retention. For close to a year now, Dr. Wooten has been using the Viality system from Tiger Aesthetics to increase fat cell viability and retention to ensure optimal results.
The lowdown is this: autologous fat transfer (taking fat from one part of a patient’s body, and grafting it to another) can be an awesome, long-lasting solution for volume deficit, however not all cells that are transferred last for the long run.
Retention is the number of cells that are transferred which absorb into the patient’s own tissue for good. This means that, years later, the patient will maintain these fat cells. During the first few months after a fat grafting surgery, there are some cells which will not ‘take’ to the tissue where they were transferred, and they will just be excreted by the body. By the time patients come in for their six-month follow-up visit, this process has usually finished, and patients will be able to see the amount that they get to keep for good. The Viality system has been show to improve the predictability of surgical results from fat grafting surgeries.

Dr. Wooten uses the Viality system to enhance fat cell reabsorption and retention and has been doing so since the summer of 2024 to best serve Beleza patients in the Greater Pittsburgh area.
