About Glass Skin Facials

“Glass skin” is a term that comes from Korean beauty (K-Beauty) trends. It refers to dewy, glowing, hydrated skin that almost shines like glass. Beleza’s glass skin facial is a long-lasting medical grade facial that achieves this by addressing multiple skin concerns while providing lasting hydration. It utilizes Skinvive, a hyaluronic-acid (HA) based injectable treatment by Juvederm that promotes a glowy and radiant complexion. It is formulated with Vycross technology, a cross-linked form of HA that facilitates long-lasting smoothness. HA naturally occurs in the body, and approximately 50% of the body’s total supply is located on the skin. (1) Hyaluronic acid has a strong ability to bind with water molecules, making it vital for skin hydration. In rejuvenation, it draws moisture to hydrate and volumize. Glass skin facials also utilize neuromodulators, making them ideal for patients who would like to reignite a youthful, hydrated glow while simultaneously minimizing wrinkles and fine lines.

Skinvive™ vs. Dermal Fillers

The Skinvive treatment uses microdroplet injections to boost the skin’s hydration and radiance without changing the facial shape or adding volume. Dermal fillers are injectables that add natural-looking volume to your skin for a smoother and plumper texture. They can target under-eye hollows, increase the volume of your lips, define your jawline, and more. Dermal fillers last for 6-12 months, and some of them contain tiny microspheres to increase your skin’s collagen levels for a smoother and firmer appearance.

Benefits of Glass Skin Facials

Glass skin facials have several benefits. These include:

  • Hydrated skin: HA provides lasting hydration to improve your skin’s tone, texture, and quality. (2)
  • Minimal downtime: These facials can improve the texture of your skin without requiring extensive downtime, allowing you to return to your normal activities soon afterwards.
  • Smoother-looking complexion: Glass skin facials make your skin “glow from within,” allowing it to appear plump and illuminated.
  • Lasting results: You can enjoy long-lasting results if you avoid excessive sun exposure that could affect your skin’s tone and/or texture.
  • Minimized wrinkles: By receiving neuromodulators alongside Skinvive, you can smooth existing wrinkles and prevent new ones from forming.

Candidates

If you are hoping to address visible signs of aging, dry skin, and/or an uneven facial texture, you may be an ideal candidate for a glass skin facial. By combining neuromodulators with the rejuvenating power of hyaluronic acid, the glass skin facial can address a wide array of concerns in all skin types.

To qualify for treatment, you should hold realistic expectations for achievable outcomes and be free of any underlying skin conditions, active acne, or infections. If you have an allergy to lidocaine or botulinum toxin or a history of anaphylaxis, you may require an alternative treatment. An expert Beleza nurse injector will establish your candidacy during a consultation.

Personal Consultation

During your personal consultation, one of our talented and experienced nurse injectors will review your medical history and examine your skin, specifically checking hydration levels, pores, texture, wrinkles, and more. Once they obtain all the information necessary about your skin type, they will explain how the glass skin facial can benefit you. Finally, they will create a customized treatment plan for your facial. Their goal during this consultation is for you to feel comfortable, knowledgeable, and excited about your upcoming treatment.

Preparation

Effectively preparing for your glass skin facial will create better outcomes. After your consultation, our nurse injectors recommend that you:

  • Pause the use of certain active ingredients and abrasive exfoliators
  • Cease blood-thinning medications and supplements
  • Avoid excessive sun exposure or tanning
  • Postpone waxing or any hair removal treatments
  • Use gentle hydration products and wear sunscreen daily (3)

Treatment Process

On the day of your procedure, you should arrive with clean skin, free of makeup or skincare products that could alter your skin texture and appearance. Your nurse injector will begin by double-cleansing your skin to remove surface dirt, makeup, natural oils, and other debris with purifying yet gentle washes. Once the skin is clean and dry, they will apply a topical numbing agent to reduce discomfort and mark precise injection sites. They will administer the Skinvive serum and neuromodulators into the dermis with a thin needle at a 45-degree angle. They will repeat this process to target each area of concern.

After administering the glass skin facial injections, your nurse injector will gently massage the area to evenly distribute the medical-grade rejuvenation formulas. Once they finish, they can apply a serum that calms your skin and reduces post-treatment inflammation. Like other medical-grade facials, the glass skin facial typically takes less than an hour and requires no downtime.

Recovery

Immediately after your treatment, you may experience mild skin irritation, redness, and/or puffiness. These are normal effects and typically subside in a day or two. You should refrain from strenuous exercise, alcohol consumption, and exposure to UV rays for 24 hours so the hyaluronic acid can take effect without interference. Within seven days, you will begin to notice the overall improvements in skin quality and structure.

Results

As the hyaluronic acid draws moisture to your skin, neuromodulators will smooth wrinkles. Over time, these work in tandem to reduce fine lines, create a glowing complexion, and give you the desired “glass skin” appearance. Areas that were once burdened with blemishes, redness, fine lines, and poor texture will now be smooth, even, clear, and glowing. By practicing healthy lifestyle habits, adopting an effective skincare routine, and protecting your skin from the sun daily, you can preserve results for about six to nine months.

Corresponding Procedures

Chemical Peel

A chemical peel is a treatment that exfoliates the skin to improve tone and texture, stimulate healing, reveal fresh layers beneath, and enhance the health of underlying skin. It can reduce the appearance of dull, rough, discolored, and scarred skin texture to reveal a brighter, more youthful-looking appearance. Your nurse injector can adjust the strength of your peel to rejuvenate the skin at different depths and address signs of aging. Light chemical peels can refresh the uppermost layers of skin to reduce fine lines and hyperpigmentation. Medium chemical peels can address moderate wrinkles, scarring, and blemishes. Lastly, deep chemical peels can target deeper wrinkles and significant sun damage. Dr. Wooten and her team advise waiting at least two to four weeks to receive a chemical peel after your glass skin facial.

DiamondGlow

The DiamondGlow facial exfoliates and moisturizes the skin for a brighter and smoother appearance. With innovative nutrient-rich serums, it can reduce rough skin texture, dull skin, sun damage, and more. As the DiamondGlow wand removes dead skin cells, these serums seep deep into your skin to powerfully refresh underlying skin layers.

Morpheus8

Morpheus8 is a microneedling and radiofrequency treatment that reduces signs of aging for firmer skin and a smoother, more youthful appearance. During the treatment, tiny needles puncture the skin as radiofrequency energy heats underlying tissues. This stimulates collagen and elastin production, which tightens the skin.
