About Dysport

Dysport is an injectable treatment that can restore a smoother, more youthful-looking appearance. Dysport is FDA-approved for cosmetic indications. Like other neuromodulators, it is derived from the protein botulinum toxin A.

The injectable blocks the transmission of acetylcholine, which is a neurotransmitter responsible for the repeated muscle contractions that lead to the development of creases and wrinkles. Preparation

Once you decide to proceed with your treatment, you will receive a set of personalized preparation instructions. These instructions will be fairly straightforward, as Dysport is non-surgical, but you should follow each one closely. These may include:

  • Discontinuing the use of certain medications or supplements.
  • Refraining from using harsh or irritating skincare products.
  • Using sun protection when leaving the house.
  • Avoiding direct or excessive sun exposure.
  • Ceasing nicotine and alcohol consumption several days in advance.

We also ask that you arrive at your appointment with clean skin that is free from any skincare or makeup products. By following these directions, you can ensure a smooth treatment and the best possible results.

Procedure

On the day of your appointment, your Beleza injector will lead you to a private treatment room, then cleanse and sanitize your skin. They may apply a topical anesthetic for a more comfortable experience, but this is not always necessary.

They will use a thin needle to measure out and administer the Dysport formula beneath your skin. They will target the specific muscles responsible for the development of wrinkles and creases, with many patients choosing areas such as the forehead, crow’s feet, nasolabial folds, and various lines around the mouth. After you receive your injections, you are free to go on with your day!

The duration of your Dysport treatment can vary depending on the size and number of treatment areas. However, most appointments do not exceed 30 minutes.

Recovery

You may return to most of your daily activities after receiving Dysport. However, there are certain restrictions and guidelines you should try to follow. You will need to avoid massaging or placing pressure on the treatment area for 24-48 hours after your treatment, and you may be recommended to refrain from using certain skincare and makeup products. Your injector will provide more detailed instructions and information during your personal consultation.

Results

The results of Dysport are gradual; they will become more apparent several days after treatment as your muscles relax. You will experience a smoother and more youthful-looking appearance as any fine lines, wrinkles, and creases soften and reduce. Dysport results typically last for 3-5 months. Are Botox and Dysport the same thing?

Botox and Dysport are not the same thing, though they are very similar. Both treatments derive from botulinum toxin, but they have different formulations.

How long will the results of Dysport last?

No, Dysport results are not immediate; they take a few days to appear. Most patients notice their results in about 3 days, but this can vary depending on the patient.
