One common question people have when they come into Beleza is: “What is the difference between round and textured ‘anatomical’ implants?”
For years, round implants were the only choice available on the market. When you imagine what a breast augmentation looks like, you probably picture a result with the look of a round implant.
Teardrop implants, on the other hand, have come onto the market at a later point, yet are growing in popularity. For certain patients, the teardrop implant offers some benefits that the round implant can’t match.
Composition
Round implants generally have a smooth shell filled with saline or fluid silicone gel that flows freely. Teardrop implants, on the other hand, are filled with a thicker silicone gel that holds its shape. This is why teardrop implants can also be called “form-stable” implants.
This difference is most apparent when someone stands up or lies down. When a woman lies flat on her back, the fluid in a round implant will settle throughout the shell, creating a round look. When she stands back up, the fluid will rush to the bottom, creating a natural-looking teardrop shape.
With teardrop implants, on the other hand, the shape will not change. The gel is form-stable, so the shape is fixed.
Shape and Look
When it comes to the difference in appearance, it’s in the name – round implants are round. They tend to provide more lift and cleavage than teardrop implants do for this reason.
Teardrop implants, on the other hand, come in a variety of oval-like shapes. Like a teardrop, they are smaller at the top, and have more mass at the bottom of the implant in order to emulate the breast’s naturally sloping appearance.
Body Type

Specifically, teardrop implants are often best for women with petite builds who don’t have much breast tissue to work with. They allow for a more natural-looking shape and level of projection without necessarily increasing the amount of volume, therefore, they allow slimmer women to achieve a more natural look after their procedure.
